Have you ever had a friend who has left you completely speechless, or stunned, either by their courage and/or humour, or just by being themselves. In the past few months while I've been getting to know Stevie his positive attitude and off the wall sense of humour, have really helped pull me out of the doldrums, sometimes I wonder what we would have done if he had refused to help us out.So lets hear it! For these incredible people who give so much of themselves.

Goblin
Very cool indeed. :)
I'm impressed by a lot of peole and for a lot of different reasons. Some do things I would imagine are just way beyond me, even a lot of people here are really cool ... an undergraduate teaching 400 students is just amazing, being blind and raising your own child is something I find really amazing and our own puggle is truly an amazing singer. :) I may not listen much to her type of music but it's her voice is really really good, then we have folks like LawLord who is master of arguments and a bloody clever bloke and of course folks such as yourself you speak their minds no matter what. Come to think of it I find a lot of fascinating things about so many people here. Also in my "normal" (as in outside the Zone) life. I don't adore or especially admire one person but I admire qualities I see in people that I don't have or I wish I had more of, I would add quite a few people on here but not wanting this to sound too long and, yeah, those who I don't mention by name, you know who you ar and people are welcome to guess if they want makes it more interesting.
Cheers

one in particular springs to mind .. a guy i was at school with, someone who was somewhat older than me, when he left school suffered kidney failure. another friend of mine, was a suitable tissue match for this guy and he donated one of his kidneys to him. it amazed me because it was such a selfless act. Most of us would do such a thing for a relative, for a child, a parent, sibling, but for just a friend?

Also SB, that's really random. You'd expect to be a match for family, but what are the chances of being a match for someone who isn't related? That is, truely selfless, and a beautiful thing.

yeah it was, and the thing was, i talked to him about it, long after, because I didn't know until after the event as I'd been out of the country ... etc and another friend of mine had told me about it, so when I asked him about it, and I said I thought that was an amazing thing to have done he said, "he was on dialises twice a week for 4 hours at a time, he had no quality of life, i can live perfectly well with one kidney, there was nothing to think about, it just had to be done". well i don't think there are many people out there who would think like that about it.

So many people I can't name them all. Without friends, family, teachers, relatives and acquaintances teaching me new things every day, being there to laugh and cry with me, and supporting me, i don't know what i'd do. You're so right Alex.

aww Wildebrue your so sweet hehe. Great topic Goblin, thanks for starting it and giving us an open invitation to ramble on about all the people who are special to us. There's to many to list here, and I wouldn't bore you with the list anyway as half, ok more than half, you wouldn't know anyway. I have to say though that I just love that we can experience other people and learn from them. I love seeing a quality, or qualities in people, and thinking to myself, I'm going to be like that. I love feeling inspired, there's a certain unexplainable gratatude I feel towards thoughs who inspire me. it's like, Thanks for making me see the world in that new light, or because of you I now have the strength, currage, determination what ever to go perform this task. it's beautiful. And it doesn't have to be close friends or family who do all the inspiring, it can be a news paper article, or a chance encounter with astranger, or, one of the most recent situations, a conversation I had with someone on line a few days ago. anything. I met a guy a couple of weeks ago at a big lunch I went to in the city. He's blind also, and is a marathon swimmer. He's swam the british channel, and all sorts of crazy things like that, but that's nt what was so inspiring about him. it was seeing him interact with the crowd at the lunchen. he was like a magnet, people wer just attracted to his personality. he had a grace and an integrity about him, he just had this ora of strangth and humility that was just so refreshing to see. I on the other hand was a nervous reck, well not entirely. It was my first year as an official guest at this paticular event, and tehre were all these sexy tv actors and high profile aussies who you only see in the papers and thing, and then me lol, it was all a bit over welming. But meeting James, and just seeing the way he conducted himself amongst thoughs people was just great for me. It's to hard to explain here on the message board, it was one of thoughs you had to be there moments. And the other person who is just so absolutely fantastic and who I'm so thankfull for is my Manager Cheryl she truely is an angel. Every good quality you an possibley imagine in a person, she has. The best mentor anyone could ever hope to have. so yes, that's my little bit.

its a pleasure Puggle and a BIG thanks to everyone for sharing your stories.I know what you mean about a guy like James, these people just have that indefinable something which some call charisma, Stevie is the same, people are just drawn to him and he's constantly surprised by it...smile

Wow...I dont' even know what to write or where to start, the thing is, I met some great people on here, I only been here since april and some of you I will never ever ever forget. I don't think it'd be fare from me to mention any names because there are quite a few of you that I love and respect in your own way, but some of you really mean a lot to me, especially those who I talk to on regular bases, those who helped me through bad times too. There are, of course, people outside of here too who'd do anything for me and who I'd do anything for. It's so maizing and nice how sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world and then some nice words or gestures from those people help me so much. Ok I know that this is very vague, but I hope that at least some of you recognised your self in here and I just wanted to say that there are definitely people in my life who helped me a lot more than I thought or expected they would.
